My favorite thing about writing is coming up with an idea and then weaving stuff from my childhood into it. Whether it’s the emotion of a family gathering, the traditions, or the memories of a first kiss. I feel more connected that way. I also like to think of a special person to dedicate my book to. My new book, The Night Before the Fourth of July, is dedicated to my Uncle Warren. He seemed to always be at the hub of our fireworks lighting when our families got together for Independence Day.
