Happy Mother’s Day!
In honor of this special day, we asked some of our favorite authors Mother’s Day questions…
Name your favorite fiction book mom (and the book name please). Also, any great recommendations for books mothers should read?Mo LoBeau’s beloved Miss Lana, from Sheila Turnage’s Three Times Lucky, gets my vote for Favorite Book Mom! While Mo looks for her lost Upstream Mother, Miss Lana loves Mo as if she were Mo’s own mother, always wise, strong and loyal, with a dash of quirkiness!
My favorite mother character is Mrs. Murry in A Wrinkle in Time. She’s a brilliant scientist who loves her family and works in her lab at home. She’s committed to her career and her family, and balances both, cooking the meals on her Bunsen burner.
My favorite fiction book mom is Hannah in Lauren Groff’s novel, Arcadia.
I adore this book, as do many of my friends who are mothers.
I’d also recommend a reread of Anne Lamott’s books of essays, Traveling Mercies and Plan B; she’s so witty about motherhood, and so very comforting.
Thanks, ladies! Happy Mother’s Day!!
