I’m currently reading A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman at the suggestion of a friend who was on a quest to find writers who could “write well, but also tell a good story.” I’m also reading Story Genius: How to Use Brain Science to Go Beyond Outlining and Write a Riveting Novel by Lisa Cron, because even after 25 years as a professional writer and author, I can always learn more! Next on my list, Commonwealth by Ann Patchett, because it is the Fort Collins Reads one city, one book selection this year, and also The Lightning Queen, a middle-grade novel by my brilliant friend Laura Resau.
Teresa R. Funke writes for children and adults. All six of her award-winning works of fiction are set in WWII and inspired by real events. Her books include, Remember Wake, a novel based on a true story, Dancing in Combat Boots, a short story collection of women’s stories from WWII, and her popular Home-Front Heroes series for middle-grade readers including The No-No Boys and V for Victory. Teresa is also a nationwide writer’s coach and a popular speaker at schools, writers conferences, and other events.
